As a constituent, may I ask you to take a moment to read the March 2, 2021 article “Create a Budget Around Our Aspirations, Not Our Limits” in the Voice of San Diego? (https://www.voiceofsandiego.org/topics/opinion/create-a-budget-around-our-aspirations-not-our-limits/). Knowing how difficult 2020 was for all San Diegans, we hold onto the hope that in 2021, we will rebuild, restore and rejuvenate – and this includes providing the critical funding needed to support more than 170 arts and culture organizations in San Diego. Arts and Culture is essential to the well-being of our neighborhoods. Providing accessibility to artistic and creative outlets encourages opportunities for inclusive activities for children and adults alike. The resurgence of cultural programming throughout our city brings with it the promise of more to come. In this difficult budget season, please remember arts and culture as a building block in the comeback of America’s Finest City. Thank you for all you do to serve our community.
